Postcards To My Mommy

These are the fronts of two postcards I recently made that have gone out to my Mom. You see I recently moved across the country from Washington state to Florida and she worries. So I felt that need to send her something telling her I'm alright and at the same time have proof that I'm actually working.

Long Time, No Post

I'm sure no one really noticed, but for the two people who religiously check this blog for updates and have sadly seen nothing new since June (and even that last post kinda sucked because it was a ceramic pig head, which anybody could have made). Don't worry! I've reached Florida, I have a work space and I am currently working on new stuff! So, until I start posting new work, I have some lovely holiday pictures for your enjoyment.

I saw this ad and almost had an epileptic seizure of happiness... If that's possible.
Mostly because it just reeks of art history and Roman mythology with its reference to the She-Wolf suckling Romulus and Remus.

Plus it's got an attractive woman in place of the wolf.

Because sex sells.

But then I forgot about the art entirely and focused exclusively on the frame, which then became the work of art and what came out was this.

Incorporated Text

I’m a fan of these daily drawings, and although I’m not sick anymore I think I’m going to continue making them. But I’ve decided to change it up a bit. Along with each drawing I will incorporate found text. This found text could be a quote I hear, an ad I see, whatever as long as it’s found during the same day that I create the drawing.
The drawing and the text may or may not be related, the only real connection between the two will be that I found/created both during the same day.
